Buck collects ref of the year award

TWENTY years after he last officiated on the British Energy-sponsored Kent County Football League, FIFA and Premier League referee Steve Bennett returned as guest speaker at the annual presentations evening.

Bennett, from Orpington, presented the Referee of the Year award to David Buck of Istead Rise, near Gravesend, and the trophy for the Most Promising Referee to Ashford’s Ian Regan.

Long-serving Eddie Diplock, of Sevenoaks, was presented with the Personality of the Year award. Bearsted, who won the Premier Division title in controversial circumstances a year ago, took the accolade for a second year in succession without question. But they were pipped for a league and cup double by Stansfeld O and B Club, who beat them in the Inter Regional Challenge Cup final.

Sponsors British Energy announced they are to continue their sponsorship for a further three years.
