Thurrock 2 Bromley 1

THE tables were turned when Bromley lost 2-1 at Thurrock at Ship Lane on New Year’s Day.

Bromley had thrashed Thurrock 8-1 at Hayes Lane on Boxing Day and must have been confident of completing the double six days later.

But 2008 proved to be a new dawn for Thurrock, who claimed their first win in 12 league games and their first league victory since October 23.

The hosts made a great start to the game, with David Bryant giving them the lead after just four minutes following a good pass from Greg Lincoln.

Danny Hockton, who had scored a hat-trick on Boxing Day, came close to equalising for the visitors when he shot just wide from a Sam Wood cross in the 13th minute.

The Lillywhites were back on level terms four minutes later when Garath Williams fired home.

But Thurrock grabbed the winning goal four minutes into the second half when Ben Judge handled in his own area and Lincoln scored from the resulting penalty.
