YOUNG batsmen Oliver Durell and Sam Northeast set a new record when they added 268 in a unbroken stand for Wellesley House Ist XI (Broadstairs) in a 30-over match against Thanet side Vikings Under-14s.

After losing four wickets for 18, the school closed on 286, with Durell finishing 153 not out and Northeast, a regular for Kent Under-14s, on 112.

The previous highest partnership for any wicket at the school was 186.

Northeast has also represented Kent at under-11, under-12 and under-13 level and has notched 11 hundreds for Wellseley’s first XI.

Vikings were 58 for three in reply when rain stopped play.
