BLACKHEATH & BROMLEY claimed 10 gold medals at the South of England Indoor Championships.

The club also bettered or equalled eight championship-best performances at the Lee Valley Athletics Centre.

Scott Huggins broke a new Scottish junior record with a clearance of 4.91m in the under-20 men’s pole vault. It was also a championship best.

Scott’s training partner, Rachel Arnheim, won gold in the women’s event with 3.40.

Anike Shand Whittingham won the 60m (7.54sec) and 200m (24.53) races. Her times were both championship bests.

Team-mate James Alaka won the 200m men’s race in 21.80.

Alex AlAmeen equalled the championship best with a final win in the junior men’s 60m hurdles with 8.17.

Dan Putnam won the under-17 200m (21.14) while Tom Bensted took the 400m (51.20).

James Groocock clinched the long jump with 7.27.

Shaunagh Brown set a new championship best in the under-20 women’s shot with 13.5.

Lauren Blackie missed out on gold by one centimetre in the under-20 long jump with 5.50.
