DARREN BENT scored a hat-trick as Charlton maintained their unbeaten sequence in pre-season friendlies with a 3-0 win against Queens Park Rangers on Tuesday at Loftus Road.

The win brought the Addicks' pre-season goal tally to 14 in five games.

Bent, the first of manager Alan Curbishley's seven pre-season signings, opened the scoring in the 12th minute and made it 2-0 in the 43rd.

He did his confidence a power of good by completing his hat-trick from the penalty spot in the 80th minute after Jonathan Spector had been fouled by Marcus Bignot.

It was the Addicks' third penalty in pre-season games after going all of last season without a single award.

They continue their pre-season programme on Saturday at Watford where they play a testimonial for long-serving goalkeeper Alec Chamberlain.
