KENT’S teenage batsman Sam Northeast was top scorer for Sir Paul Getty’s XI in Tuesday’s clash with the Sri Lankan’s on the Wormsley private estate in Buckinghamshire.

The 16-year-old from Walmer near Deal hit an unbeaten 62 in the host side’s winning 50-over total of 195 for five.

Played out on a slow pitch and in bitterly cold conditions, Northeast reached his half century from 133 balls and with three fours.

Matt Dennington also impressed by scoring 34 in a game that also featured Kent's Rob Ferley, Matt Dennington and Simon Cusden.

Harrow School pupil Northeast said: "I was a little nervous because I knew this was a good opportunity for me to prove I have something to give to the game.

"Hopefully this is another small step on a career toward being a cricketer."
