Aslett’s England debut hit by weather

WHITSTABLE footballer Steve Aslett’s debut for England Schoolboys is on hold after the International against Northern Ireland was called off at just 24 hours notice, due to heavy snow in Belfast.

Whitstable captain Mark Seager said: “He is bound to be very upset. It’s a massive step up for Steve and the sort of chance every young player dreams of.

"He said the game should be rescheduled for sometime next month. He is an integral part of the 16-man squad and harboured strong hopes of being in the starting 11."

Aslett told the Whitstable Town website, www.whitstabletownfc.co.uk earlier in the month: "All the selection games have gone really well and the whole set up is as you would expect at England level...fantastic."
