Armour prepares for September re-match

IT'S round three of the Johnny Armour-Francis Ampofo saga with the news this week that the two fighters will clash again in September.

Chatham-based boxer Armour will defend his WBU bantamweight title against the Bethnal Green fighter at Brentwood Leisure Centre on Saturday, September 21.

Armour, 33, beaten just once in his previous 30 professional fights, said: “Now I can get him out of the way once and for all. I know some pundits said I was lucky to beat him last time, when I retained the title, and I know I wasn’t on top of my game that night but this time will be different. I am right up for this one.”

The last time they met at Brentwood in May they produced a real thriller which was screened live on Sky Sports. Sky will again screen the fight and Armour says this time he will not disappoint.

He added: "If he couldn’t beat me last time there’s no way he’s going to this time around."
