Armour: I'll prove how good I am

CHATHAM boxer Johnny Armour aims to show why he's a world champion when he defends his WBU Bantamweight title against Francis Ampofo.

Armour beat Ampofo for the vacant title in December 2000 on points and is determined to leave viewers in no doubt he's the best on Saturday, May 11.

Armour is in Liverpool where his trainers are pushing him hard to get him to his peak and the champ reckons he'll be in the best shape of his career when he steps into the ring at Bethnal Green's York Hall.

He said: "This is the most important fight of my life and I really want to put on a good show because there are some big fights ahead. "I want to be able to provide a nice home for my family and have a bit of money in the bank to be able to live comfortably.

"I'm not going to make millions but a good showing on May 11 could get me a good pay day. I know I can beat him and I'm going to show people just how good I am."

He added: "My trainers are really pushing me and I'll be at my peak come the fight."
