Another blank as Gills crash at Bromley

Bromley 1 Gillingham 0

GILLINGHAM suffered a disappointing defeat in their penultimate pre-season friendly at Ryman League Premier Division Bromley on Tuesday.

Tony Boot scored the only goal of the game on the hour mark to give the Lilywhites a well-earned victory against a strong Gills line-up, which included several first-team regulars.

Ronnie Jepson handed starts to triallists Matt Baker, a former Milton Keynes Dons goalkeeper, and Michele Di Piedi, previously a striker at Sheffield Wednesday, but the rest of the team all played last season.

Two other triallists, William Mocquet and Liam Marum, came off the bench in an effort to impress.

Clint Easton came closest to equalising for Gillingham but he failed to hit the target after being put through by Dean McDonald with 20 minutes to play.

The Gills' final pre-season test comes on Saturday in the shape of Andy Hessenthaler's testimonial against West Ham at Priestfield.

Gillingham: Baker, Clohessy, Cox (Johnson 78), Sancho (Bentley 78), Jackman, Collin (Mocquet h-t), Crofts, Pouton, Easton (Jarvis 78), Di Piedi (Marum 56), McDonald (Mulligan 78).
Subs Not Used: Mannerings, Stone.
