CHARLTON are stepping up their campaign to win the hearts and minds of the county's football fans by launching into television advertising for the first time.

The first of 66 specially commissioned adverts will be seen by viewers in the areas covered by the Blue Bell Hill and Dover transmitters, which has a potential audience of one million adults.

Charlton will feature in commercials breaks for Coronation Street and I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.

The campaign centres on an area where the Addicks are working hard to build new support with initiatives like their highly successful Valley Express cut-price coach service and in the community with Kent County Council.

The advertising will promote December home games against Blackburn, Fulham and Aston Villa. The message being the availability, the affordability and the convenience of reaching The Valley from all over Kent.

Saturday’s attendance of 26,435 for Everton’s visit was boosted by Kent fans using the Valley Express service.

Rick Everitt, who helps co-ordinate Valley Express, said: "We hope the campaign generates new supporters and encourage attendance from existing supporters."
