Charlton have released midfielder Dorian Smith whom they signed from Ryman League Tooting and Mitcham in January.

Manager Alan Pardew signed him on the recommendation of old friend Billy Smith, Tooting's assistant manager, citing his passing ability.

As part of the deal, Smith was loaned back to Tooting while training with the Addicks during the week.

The initial contract was until the end of the season at which Pardew decided not to renew.

Brighton, Leyton Orient, Peterborough, Chesterfield and Huddersfield quickly expressed an interest in the player.
