CHARLTON have protested to the Football Association following the rejection of their appeal against Lloyd Sam’s sending-off in the 2-1 midweek win at Hull.

Addicks Charlton chief executive Peter Varney took a swipe at the FA following the decision.

He said: "After submitting DVD evidence, testimonies from a number of players and a cheque for £750, I cannot understand why we only receive a one-line response telling us the appeal has been dismissed.

“The referee’s report started that Lloyd Sam landed several blows to the upper torso and head of Hull’s Ian Ashbee. But there is no evidence to corroborate that.”

Sam started a three-match suspension on Saturday and will also miss Charlton’s next match away to Wolves on Saturday, October 20 and Plymouth’s visit on Tuesday, October 23.
