Addicks in dark over Curbs rumours

RICHARD MURRAY: Says the club have received no approach from Rangers

CHARLTON plc chairman Richard Murray confessed to being none the wiser over strong speculation in the Scottish press linking manager Alan Curbishley with a move to Glasgow Rangers.

Under-fire Rangers boss Alex McLeish has been told by chairman David Murray that his position will be reviewed at the end of December following matches against Celtic, Porto and Hibs.

Mr Murray said: "I know nothing about this. We have received no approach from Glasgow Rangers – and I got to know their chairman David Murray after we signed Jonatan Johansson from them.

"Nobody has spoken to me about this and I am in the process of negotiating a contract extension with Alan who has two years of his existing agreement to run."

A clause inserted in Curbishley’s contract allows him to speak to Champions League clubs, should Charlton receive an approach.

Rangers were interested in Curbishley before appointing McLeish and are believed to have inquired about the amount of compensation required to take him from Charlton.

This could prove a huge stumbling block as Rangers are feeling the pinch financially.
