Addicks hitman close to Hammers switch

Darren Bent is nearing The Valley exit door
Darren Bent is nearing The Valley exit door

CHARLTON striker Darren Bent is today weighing up a £17million move to West Ham United.

The two clubs appeared to agree a deal that would see the Addicks pocket £16million from the sale, plus Hammers midfielder Hayden Mullins.

Bent, 23, is yet to accept the offer, with Tottenham and Liverpool also interested. His wages would be a reported £75,000 a week, and he is expected to give his answer some time today.

If it goes ahead, the move would reunite Bent with former boss Alan Curbishley, who brought the striker to the Valley from Ipswich for just £2.6million two years ago.

A sell-on clause means Ispwich will receive 20 per cent of any profit.
