Addicks handed difficult opening

Charlton face a tough start to their 2008/09 Coca-Cola Championship campaign.

The Addicks will host Swansea on Saturday, August 9 before travelling to play Watford a week later (August 16).

Recently relegated Reading travel to The Valley on August 23. Charlton end August with a trip to face Preston (August 30).

Alan Pardew's side face rivals Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on September 30 with the return fixture taking place on January 27.

Charlton entertain Championship favourites QPR on Boxing Day (December 26) before ending the year away at Sheffield United on December 28.

The Addicks start 2009 by entertaining newly-promoted Nottingham Forest on January 10 and face Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough a week later (January 17).

Pardew's team complete their campaign with a trip to play Derby on April 25 before facing Norwich City at The Valley on May 3.

Charlton have been installed as 14-1 to win the league.
