Manchester City 0 Charlton Athletic 0

CHARLTON moved out of the Barclays Premier League bottom three for the first time since September with a priceless point from Friday's dogged draw at the City of Manchester Stadium.

The point dropped Sheffield United into the drop zone.

The Addicks defensive resilience was too strong for a City side who had not scored a league goal at home since New Year's Day.

City dominated possession for long periods but seldom troubled the Charlton defence. Goalkeeper Scott Carson was called into action just once to make a save worthy of the name when he brilliantly turned aside Joey Barton's 20-yard drive in the 33rd minute.

Charlton's best chance fell to Zheng Zhi in the 73rd minute but he stumbled when well placed with just goalkeeper Andreas Isaksson to beat.

Charlton: Carson; Young, El Karkouri, Diawara, Hreidarsson; Zheng, Faye, Song, Thomas (Rommedahl 90); M. Bent, D Bent.
Subs Not Used: Randolph, Ambrose, Bougherra, Lisbie.
Attendance: 41,424.
