5-a-side competition on brink of folding

THE Sheppey 5-a-side League will fold unless new teams join ahead of the new campaign.

The league was formed in 1984 and ran with 10 teams last year – the winners were Sheppey with Brushands runners-up.

Only two teams have registered ahead of the start of the new season and if numbers do not increase then league officials have warned that they will be left with no choice but to close the competition.

Matches take place every Monday evening at the Sheppey Sports Complex, with weekly results and tables appearing in the Sheerness Times Guardian.

Any teams interested in joining, should contact Roger on 07799 875270 as soon as possible to register their interest.
