Youths steal from elderly woman tricked into helping them

A GROUP of youths who abused an elderly woman’s trust are being sought by police.

The 82-year-old woman was dupped at her home in Winterstoke Crescent, Ramsgate, when a teenager appeared at her lounge window on Saturday and gestured for her to open the front door.

Three boys were on the doorstep, claiming they had chased by a gang and asked if could they get through her house to the park at the back.

The woman let them in and they walked through the house, with one of them taking more time than the others, and then jumped over the back fence.

She later noticed her purse credit cards and keys had been taken.

The purse was later found by officers in a bin in the park, but all the cash - £40 in total - and her keys were missing.

The first boy was white, aged between 12 and 13, 5ft 4ins, slim with short light brown hair, and was wearing a dark anorak and dark trousers. The second was around 5ft 8ins, heavier, aged up to 16 with dark brown hair and wearing similar clothing to his friend. The third boy was 5ft 6ins with dark hair, dark clothing, also aged up to 16, and with a slim physique.

All three were polite and looked ‘well looked after’.

Anyone with any information on the incident is asked to contact DC Lee Heptinstall at Margate Police Station on 01843 231055 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
