Youth held after theft of luxury cars

A TEENAGER has been arrested following the theft of three new Subaru Imprezas each valued at £28,000.

Swale police officers received a report that the cars were being stolen from a car compound in Cullet Drive, Rushenden, near Sheerness, just after 7.30pm on Tuesday.

The Surrey Police helicopter was called in to help search for the suspects.

One car was found abandoned in Main Road, Queenborough, but the suspect made off. The other two cars were then spotted on the A249 and then the M2.

One was abandoned and officers arrested the 18-year-old male driver. The third car was found at the Farthing Corner services on the M2 at Rainham.

Investigating officer DC Paul Fewtrell said: “We are keen to locate the two outstanding suspects and I would like to hear from anyone who may have seen anyone acting suspicious in the Queenborough area prior to the theft.”

Witnesses are urged to contact DC Fewtrell on 01795 584162 or CrimeStoppers on 0800 555111.
