YOUNG drivers who want to follow in the footsteps of Formula 1 superstar Lewis Hamilton are flocking to the Medway karting circuit where he learned his craft.

The circuit, at Chatham's Buckmore Park, is reporting strong demand this summer, especially from black youngsters inspired by Hamilton's achievements.

It was in 1996 that Hamilton's potential was first spotted at Buckmore Park by McLaren boss Ron Dennis, who was at the circuit for a Champions of the Future race meeting.

Over the years, the Chatham circuit has been host to many F1 stars of the future, including Jenson Button and Johnny Herbert.
