Young girl savaged by family dog

A six-year-old girl is in intensive care after being attacked by the family dog.

The youngster is in a stable condition at St Thomas Hospital in London after being mauled by a Staffordshire bull terrier in Folkestone.

The dog has since been put down.

Police are investigating the attack in which the child was badly injured. Her mother was also injured.

The pair were initially taken to the William Harvey Hospital at Ashford before the girl was moved to London for surgery.

The attack happened last Monday, June 9.
