Young driver seriously hurt in crash

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a road crash left a 17-year-old driver in a serious condition.

He was at the wheel of a silver Citroen Saxo, with his 15-year-old brother as a passenger, when it was in collision with a white van at Bobbing, near Sittingbourne.

Both brothers had to be cut free by a crew from the Sittingbourne Fire and Rescue, with the roof of the Saxo being lifted off in order to release the driver. He was taken to the Medway Martime Hospital at Gillingham.

The incident happened just before 6.30pm on Thursday near he McDonald’s and Bobbing Apple restaurants on the old Sheppey Way at Bobbing. The road was closed until almost 10pm while crash investigators examined the scene.
