Sam Eastwell, the 17-year-old who was found with severe head injuries two weeks ago, has regained consciousness - but still faces months in hospital.

Police say he is still in a critical but stable condition on a ventilator at King’s College Hospital in London. It is expected he will remain in hospital "for a number of months".

Two 16-year-old boys from Ramsgate have been remanded in custody charged with robbery and wounding with intent following the incident.

They appeared at Margate Youth Court on Wednesday and will reappear at the same court on Wednesday, September 17, for a committal to a crown court hearing. Pleas can be entered at that point.

Sam was found unconscious on the steps of Albion House in Albion Place, Ramsgate, in the early hours of Thursday, August 7. His family continue to maintain a 24-hour vigil by his bedside while the investigation, involving up to 70 officers, continues.
