Women forced to hand over purses

TWO women making a call from a telephone kiosk shortly after 3am on Sunday handed over their purses to thieves.

Police say two men drove up in a silver-coloured space cruiser and parked next to the box in Westover Road, St Peter’s, Broadstairs. They asked if they were using the telephone and then asked for their purses and then drove off.

The women, a 24-year-old from Broadstairs and a 49-year-old Londoner, were not threatened or hurt. Their purses contained a total of £4.40. Both men are in their late teens or early 20s.
