Diane Roper found herself caught up in a terrifying ordeal as she drove to work at 4am.

As she waited at lights, her passenger door flew open and a drink and drug-crazed thug threatened to stab her unless she got out.

He stole the car but crashed it less than 20 minutes later.

Six weeks on, she still feels traumatised by her ordeal and is afraid to go out unless she has to.

Mrs Roper, from Gillingham, says: “I feel like a prisoner in my own home.”

In an exclusive interview in today's print edition, Mrs Roper speaks about her moment of terror and her “disgust” at the 18-month sentence handed out to Adam Savage, from Chatham.

“He got in the passenger seat and lent across towards me, screaming 'I mean it, get out or I will stab you.’"

"The incident was over in a few minutes, but it has changed my life completely. It is still going to take some time to get over it.”
