Woman seriously injured in crash

An elderly woman is recovering from serious injuries after a two-car crash.

The accident closed part of Borstal Hill in Whitstable for several hours on Saturday evening.

The woman, in her 80s and from Seasalter, was a passenger in a car that was in collision with another car at about 5.15pm. She was taken to the QEQM hospital in Margate with the man who was driving who suffered minor injuries.

Police closed the road between Joy Lane and Grimthorpe Avenue to allow officers to investigate the collision between the Suzuki Wagon and the Peugeot 206, which is understood to have been parked.

The woman’s injuries are described as not life threatening.

One lane on the road was reopened just before midnight.
