Woman knocked unconscious in unprovoked attack

A WOMAN was attacked and robbed of her bag as she walked through an alleyway in Lordswood, near Chatham.

The 24-year-old woman was walking to her friend's home in Lordswood Lane on Friday when she took a short cut through an alleyway in Broadlands Drive, where she was attacked.

The victim saw two young people in the alleyway and the next thing she remembers is feeling a thud on her face and then waking up laying on the pavement.

During the attack, which happened at about 3.30pm, the victim's bag and purse were stolen as was a necklace and pendant the victim had been wearing.

She also received a black eye and a cut to her nose and was taken to hospital for treatment. Doctors believe she was probably only unconscious for a short time.

A police spokesman said: "This was an extremely nasty, unprovoked attack and we would ask anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the assault and who may have seen something to contact us as a matter or urgency. Unfortunately the victim was unable to give any descriptions of the offenders."

Anyone who may have information about this incident is asked to contact Medway Police on 01634 884252 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
