A man has been arrested and bailed after a 51-year-old Dartford woman was hit by a car and died yesterday morning.

The collision happened close to McDonald's in Cobham Terrace, Greenhithe, at 7.25am.

A 23-year-old man from Essex was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has been bailed until September 20.

PC Glen Braidwood, who is leading the investigation said that their inquiries suggested that the man was reversing the van along the road, near to the fast food restaurant. He said the woman suffered head injuries and died at the scene.

He said: "We would like to speak with anyone that may have seen the collision, or events leading up to the incident, as they could help us with our investigation."
