Woman killed as car overturns

A female driver died at the scene of a road crash in a Kent village.

The black Chevrolet Lancetti she was driving overturned in Shoreham Road, Otford, near Sevenoaks at around 9.30am Thursday.

A police spokesman said: "As the car left the carriageway it struck a glancing blow to a blue Vauxhall parked in a layby."

The victim, a 54-year-old woman from the Swanley area, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two passengers in the Chevrolet suffered minor injuries, although one required treatment at Darent Valley Hospital. The driver of the Vauxhall was treated for shock.

Firefighters helped to free the people trapped in the overturned car.

The road was closed after the accident and reopened at around 1pm.
