Woman hurt in 'cowardly' bag snatch

A PENSIONER has been injured in a "cowardly act" in a Kent village street.

The 67-year-old woman was walking along St Margaret's Road, St Margaret's at Cliffe, near Dover with her elderly friend when they noticed three men standing on the corner of Sea Street.

One of them grabbed the pensioner's bag and pulled it, causing her to fall to the ground on her face. The incident left her with bruised knees, a grazed hand, cut lip and a chipped tooth.

The offender and the other two men ran off back towards Sea Street.

PC Stephen Kerr said: "This was a cowardly act against a lady out walking with her friend."

The victim's credit cards were later found in Ellens Road, Deal.

The offender is described as a slim man of Eastern European appearance, 6ft 1in tall, aged in his mid to late 20s with cropped hair. His appearance was scruffy and he was dressed in a navy tracksuit.

Anyone with information about this incident, which happened on Tuesday, is asked to contact police on 01304 240055 or Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
