Woman hurt as car overturns in Cranbrook

A woman was injured after a car she was travelling in overturned and ended up submerged in a ditch this morning.

The crash happened at about 7.10am on the A262 Goudhurst Road, Cranbrook.

Firefighters from Cranbrook and Marden were called when flames could be seen coming from the back of the car.

The vehicle's other occupant - a man - had already escaped the vehicle by the time they arrived, while cutting equipment was used to release the woman.

Both occupants were said to be in their mid-20s.

No other vehicle was involved in the accident and the woman was taken to Pembury hospital suffering from minor neck and back injuries.

Police closed the road at Whitewell Lane until 8.30am.
