Woman fights for life after car-lorry smash

A woman is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after the car she was driving was involved in a crash with a lorry in the county.

Emergency services were called to Seven Mile Lane - between Mereworth and the A20, near Wrotham - at around 12.40pm Friday after a silver Ford Focus collided with an HGV

The driver, believed to be in her 20s, was taken to the Royal London Hospital with serious injuries.

Police closed the road for almost seven hours while emergency services and forensic experts attended the scene. It was re-opened at 7.30pm.

Witnesses to the crash are now being urged to come forward to help Kent Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit find out what happened.

It is not thought any other vehicle was involved, but officers would particularly like to talk to anyone who might have been slowing their vehicle to turn into a fruit packing company based in Seven Mile Lane at the time.

Anyone with information should contact police on 01622 798537.
