Woman critical after head-on crash

TWO female drivers involved in a head-on collision on the A264 Langton Road on Sunday night had to be cut free from their cars by firefighters.

One, driving a blue Peugeot 206, suffered serious injuries and has been detained at the Kent and Sussex Hospital, Tunbridge Wells. Her condition was described on Monday as "critical".

The other motorist, driving a blue Vauxhall Astra, and a young boy who was a passenger, were also taken to hospital, but escaped with minor injuries.

The accident happened at 5.40pm and led to the road being closed between Dornden Drive and Tea Garden Lane, Rusthall, for almost four hours.

Crews from Tunbridge Wells fire station used hydraulic cutting gear to free the casualties in a rescue operation which took some 45 minutes to complete.

Anyone who saw the accident or the vehicles involved prior to the collision is asked to contact PC Michael Bowen, of West Kent police, on 01892 511055.
