Woman charged after police raid on suspected brothel

Residents in Strood have been praised after they helped Medway Police to close a suspected brothel.

Officers launched an investigation after receiving complaints from residents about an address on Kitchener Road.

Police later visited the address and arrested a 37 year old woman in connection with running a brothel and being in possession of a class B drug. Another woman was arrested but later released without charge.

Tania Bibby of Pelham Terrace, Gravesend was charged with both offences. She has been released on police bail and will appear at Medway Magistrates Court on Thursday.

Chief Inspector Dave Coleman said: "The local community raised concerns and after listening to them we were able to take action."
