Witness appeal after lawnmower theft

POLICE are appealing for information following the theft of a lawnmower from one of Kent's healthy living centres.

The lawnmower was taken from a shed at the Sunlight Centre, Richmond Road, Gillingham, between December 13 and January 17.

The orange and red Sovereign petrol lawnmower is valued at around £130. The item belonged to High Hopes Gardening Club, a group run by volunteers for disabled adults and adults with learning difficulties.

One of the local neighbourhood officer, PCSO Kathryn Francis, said: "Various lines of enquiries have been made and CCTV is being reviewed. I would like to ask anyone who may have been offered the lawnmower, or has any information that would help us with our investigations to come forward.

"Burglary is an intrusive and upsetting crime and in this instance the thief has been particularly callous and targeted a charity."

Anyone with information is asked to contact detectives at Medway police station on 01634 792531 quoting reference DZ/001095/08 or contact Kent CrimeStoppers on 0800 555111 .
