Welling manager Jamie Day is hoping for two more bumper crowds in pre-season.

More than 2,000 watched Charlton win 1-0 at Park View Road on Tuesday night and the Wings still have to host Millwall on Tuesday, July 20 and an Arsenal XI on Saturday, July 24.

Day (pictured) said: "It was great to see so many people on Tuesday and I know everyone at the club was very grateful and pleased with the turnout.

"We need to get as many people in during the next two games as well to boost the finances."

While the strength of the Millwall side is not yet known, Day stressed that it will be an Arsenal XI who visit Park View Road, rather than Arsene Wenger's first-team squad although he knows that it will be a chance to see the stars of tomorrow.

"It will still be a talented team," said Day. "My understanding is that it will be a mix of reserve and youth team players."

Day takes a Welling team to Aveley on Friday night, giving the trialists another chance to impress. Lee Clarke and Dean Cracknell, who both came on against Charlton, are also expected to feature having been on holiday for part of the pre-season.

Tickets for the Arsenal game are on sale from the ground during office hours and on Saturday morning from 10am to noon. Call 020 8301 1196 for more details.
