Welling boss Jamie Day praised his team after they picked up a point at Dover on Tuesday night - in a game he felt they would have lost last season.

The Wings came from behind as stunning goals from Joe Healy and Andy Pugh put them ahead, only for an error by keeper Charlie Mitten to gift Dover a late equaliser in Blue Square Bet South.

"I would have taken a point before the game so I'm pleased with that but I'm just disappointed we didn't get all three," said Day.

"On Saturday, we got caught up in the second half and played into Hampton's hands. But at Dover we moved the ball quite well and did well to get 2-1 ahead.

"We had a spell when we were under pressure but they've only had one shot and Charlie didn't deal with it.

"We were going to have spells when we had to sit in - they are one of the favourites to win the title - but we might have lost that game 3-2 last season so in that respect I'm pleased we dug in."

Day pleased the quality of his team's goals, with Healy and Pugh providing two excellent goals to delight the visiting fans.

"Joe Healy showed great movement and it was a good ball back to him from Pughy," said Day.

"The second one was a great pass into him and a great finish, but we can still pass it better than we did."
