Welling teenager Ben Greenhalgh has joined Inter Milan after winning a television programme.

Greenhalgh, who made his Welling debut in last season's Kent Senior Cup final win over Whitstable, had signed a contract with the Wings in pre-season.

But Welling agreed to release him so he could take part in Sky TV's Football's Next Star programme, where the prize for the winner was a contract with Jose Mourinho's Serie A champions Inter.

Greenhalgh said: "This is the best day of my life, it's just an unbelievable feeling."

The teenager from Orpington has been signed up by football agency SEM, whose clients include Rio Ferdinand and Ian Wright, since the show was made earlier this season.

The show saw eight players taken to Italy following trials across the UK, before they were slowly whittled down to a final three, with the last programme in the series being aired on Sunday.
