Warning that 'incredibly stupid' prank could prove fatal

YOUNGSTERS are being urged to stop a new game of throwing objects from a bridge in the county before it causes serious injury or even death.

A woman was driving along the Thanet Way at 4pm on Monday when her car was hit by an object thrown from a bridge by the Greenhill roundabout, near Whitstable, by two children.

Whatever hit her windscreen was soft and caused no damage but she was left shaken by the incident.

Insp Gordon Etheridge said: "What may start out as a bit of a lark could so easily turn into a murder inquiry. It is an incredibly stupid thing to do."

There have been similar pranks in other parts of the county and the country where drivers have suffered serious injuries or died as a result of objects being thrown at them.

Officers will be patrolling the area throughout this week.
