Wards at hospitals in Kent have been closed because of gastric flu.

A number at the Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust have been shut, together with one ward at the East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust.

Kent ward at the Kent and Canterbury Hospital, which has eight beds, is expected to be closed until Sunday when it will be deep cleaned before reopening.

The bug causes vomiting and diarrhoea and can affect anyone whether they are in hospital or not.

Those who want to visit patients at the Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust are being advised to check with the ward before travelling.
