Video: Razzamataz children sleep in jail in bid to reach London's West End

Children from the Isle of Sheppey's Razzamataz Theatre School spent a night in the cells at Sheerness police station to raise money so they can appear on the West End stage.

The youngsters needed to raise £1,000 to perform at Her Majesty's Theatre in London, which is usually home to The Phantom of the Opera, in November.

And as well as raising the funds, the children were taught a valuable life lesson: don't commit crime!

Drew Latter, 14, said: "If you do something bad you're going to be living in a crummy little cell for a very long time. It's just not worth it!"

Razzamataz was set up on the Island by Mandy Russell in 2008 after the group got backing from Duncan Bannatyne on Dragons' Den.

It meets at St George's Primary School in Minster every Saturday.
