Video: Loyd Grossman opens Strood Academy

Loyd Grossman spoke to us
at the academy's opening

Chef, television presenter, and former
rock band member Loyd Grossman was at the official opening of the
new Strood Academy.

Mr Grossman, chairman of the board of
governors for the University for the Creative Arts (UCA) -
the academy’s lead sponsor, was joined by members of Medway
Council, governors, parents and pupils at the official opening on
Thursday, October 2.

Students put on dance and singing
performances at the opening while vice chancellor for the
University of the Creative Arts, Professor Elaine Thomas, Mayor of
Medway Cllr David Royle, schools portfolio holder Cllr Les Wicks
and principal Richard Hart all spoke to those gathered in the
school hall.

Star of TV favourite Through the Keyhole
Loyd said: “We want to show how committed we are to making this a
successful project and how much support we intend to give to the
team here and to, of course, the students here.

“I think the feeling is very positive because
it is certainly raising the bar and most importantly it is going to
be doing better things for the students.”
