Video: Kent School Games kicks off in Canterbury

in the Kent School Games

Kent's finest young sports stars gathered in Canterbury to
compete in the first day of the Kent School Games finals.

Hundreds of children from schools across the county battled it
out to be the best in 13 disciplines at six sites in the city
yesterday.

Among the events featured were basketball, tennis, cheerleading,
archery football and futsal held at the University of Kent,
Canterbury.

Nearly 200 boys and girls competed in the basketball events
alone with 100 in disability football and 64 in tennis.

At Canterbury's Kingsmead Leisure Centre more than 200 took to
the pool in the swimming events and 64 competed in the table
tennis.

Canterbury High School played host to the trampolining and
beach volleyball play-offs with 160 children taking part in
total.

Canterbury Christchurch University Sport Centre was the venue
for the badminton competition and more than 250 took part in the
boys and girls hockey at Polo Farm.

Broome Park Golf Club hosted the golf in which 64 took
part.

Today, the athletics events kick off along with the netball,
mixed basketball and tri-golf.
