This road could be the only one in the country where one side has a faster speed limit than the other.

The mistake on the new Victoria Way, in Ashford, was spotted by an eagle-eyed resident.

Brookfield Road is 40mph and the turn off onto Leacon Road and onto Victoria Way has no signs indicating it drops to 30mph.

Drivers coming the other way from Victoria Road are travelling at 30mph because there are signs.
Victoria Way is 20mph outside Victoria Road Primary School.

South Willesborough councillor David Smith was contacted by resident David Worlsey, who spotted the mistake.

Cllr Smith said: "We must be the only place in the country that has two different speed limits on the same road, depending on which way you’re driving along it."

Jamie Watson, major projects manager at Kent County Council, said: "Speed limit signs to give Leacon Road and Victoria Road a 30mph limit will be installed at the junction of Leacon Road with Brookfield Road by the end of March."
