Using their loaf - or stealing bread to make some dough?

With the credit crunch biting, could this be an emerging product of people on the breadline?

Cars were practically queueing up to earn a crust from stale loaves from a Northfleet supermarket’s delivery yard.

The brazen loaf looters are not even waiting for the cover of darkness to grab a sliced white - some have been witnessed helping themselves in the middle of the afternoon.

One couple who live near Sainsbury’s Springhead Road store in Gravesend have caputured the culprits.

The couple, who did not wish to be named, said: "They come and take the bread whenever the gate is left open, it can be any day and often in the afternoon in broad daylight."

A spokeswoman for Sainsbury’s said the store had now moved the bread bins to prevent further pilfering.
