Four men arrested on suspicion of gang-raping two girls in a Chatham graveyard yesterday morning have been released on police bail.

The suspects, aged between 21 and 26, were taken into custody following an alleged attack in the early hours of the morning.

All four were bailed last night pending further inquiries.

The arrests came after two 18-year-olds told officers they were raped at the former St Mary's Church in Dock Road.

The pair were yesterday said to be recovering in hospital with officers by their side.

Medway Police cordoned off the church and a forensics team was called to the scene.
