Two hurt as car hits tree

TWO men were injured when their car hit a tree at Sarre, near Birchington. The driver of a green VW Polo, a 34-year-old man from Canterbury, and his passenger, aged 22, were helped by an off-duty Special Constable from Thanet who gave them first aid until the ambulance arrived.

Both men were taken to the Queen Mother Hospital in Margate. The driver had serious head and chest injuries while his passenger broke an arm.

The accident happened last night at about 9.30pm on the A28 Canterbury Road. The road was closed between Sarre and Upstreet while emergency services attended.
