Two deaths in road crashes

Two people have died in fatal road crashes in Kent.

The first happened at 6.45pm on Thursday on the A21 Flimwell near the Little Chef on the Kent/East Sussex border.

A white Peugeot 309 travelling south from Tunbridge Wells was in collision with a red VW Transporter van and a black VW Golf going in the opposite direction.

The driver of the Peugeot, who was 50 and believed to live locally, was cut from the wreckage by firefighters but had suffered fatal injuries. The woman driving the Golf was also cut from her car but suffered only minor injuries.

The road was closed until 4am today.

The other crash happened on the A225 near Shoreham railway station. The male driver, in his 50s and believed to be local, was killed when his Ford Focus hit a tree at 7.30am today.

Kent Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit is appealing for information on both crashes. Witnesses can call the appeal line on 01622 798538.
