TELEVISION star Vic Reeves has been charged with drink-driving following an incident near his home in Kent.

The 46-year-old comedian, well-known for hit shows The Smell of Reeves and Mortimer and Shooting Stars, was arrested over the Easter holiday after his Jaguar was allegedly in collision with a Peugeot 106.

The alleged incident took place near the star's home between Boughton Malherbe and Charing.

On Saturday the celebrity, whose real name is Jim Moir, was charged with driving a motor vehicle while over the alcohol limit and leaving the scene of a road traffic accident.

A Kent Police spokesman confirmed that James Moir is due to appear at Maidstone Magistrates' Court on Thursday, April 7.
